Minka, the Peace and Resilience Fund - 2023 Activity report
Published on

Minka Fund: a pioneering fund run by AFD and the French government to address questions of gender and gender-based violence in crisis zones.
In 2023, nearly 100% of Minka projects helped boost gender equality, and for 25% of projects, gender equality was their principal objective, which means that the Minka Fund has surpassed the objectives set by French law.
Minka Fund: €124 M was devoted to the prevention of or responses to crises and violent conflicts, which represents 15% of grants entrusted to AFD by the French government.
This amount is substantially lower than in 2022, as new funding was suspended in response to changes in the political situation in the Central Sahel. The €124 M was used to finance 25 operations in the four crisis regions where the Minka Fund has focused its financing since 2017 (the Sahel, Lake Chad, the Central African Republic and the Middle East), as well as in neighboring areas threatened by the spreading Sahel crisis and Mozambique.
