Introduction of Coffee Cultivation in Northern Laos
Published on

For effective management of natural resources and a means to reduce poverty, countries around the world have relied on coffee cultivation. To achieve these twin goals however, coffee farming and production must be based on good work practices and on empowering communities.
Funded by AFD (Agence Française de Développement) and implemented by Laos’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF), the RECoSeL project (Reinforcement and extension of the coffee sector in Laos) is part of a commitment of the French government to the Laos coffee sector, a commitment that began more than 20 years ago.
Relying on local operators, RECoSeL is at the origin of 21 sub-projects in 18 districts across eight provinces, aimed at developing organic coffee production and agroforestry, helping farmers to organize themselves, and building partnerships with buyers.
