Infographic - Our Sport & Development Commitments 2024

In February 2019, AFD Group adopted a “Sport and Development” strategy, which has consolidated the role of sports as part of our work with youth and efforts to reduce inequalities and build social cohesion.

Under this strategy, AFD Group promotes and supports the development of Sport for development initiatives in the projects it finances. The objective is to improve access to sport for all, especially for young people, women and girls, and thus
contribute to increasing access to education and strengthening gender equality.

In 2024, it committed €35 million, with two notable developments: an extended geographical reach, with its first operations outside Africa, and a Sport for Development mandate fully integrated into all AFD Group’s subsidiaries.
