Why does AFD finance cultural and creative industries?

Behind a festival concert, a captivating television series, or a fascinating museum exhibition, there are entire sectors that need to be structured so that the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) can fully develop.
These CCIs are not just entertainment. They create jobs, stimulate growth, and, above all, strengthen social ties.
They embody strong values: education, gender equality, citizenship, governance, etc.
Culture is a common good.
That's why AFD is working to ensure everyone has access to it by supporting CCIs in all their dimensions, in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and elsewhere.
Supporting culture means supporting development.
