In 2024, the health and social protection sectors were at the heart of emerging countries’ priorities, reflecting their growing demand for inclusive and resilient systems, particularly in response to climate-related shocks. At the same time, these sectors were also key issues in crisis-affected or vulnerable areas.

AFD Group responded to these needs with a tailored approach, adapting its offer to the specific contexts and demands of its partners. Our activities in 2024 reflect our partners’ desire for balanced development, where health and social protection are intrinsically linked to environmental challenges, with the aim of building a fairer and more sustainable future for all.

In 2024, AFD Group invested €1 billion in the health sector. It deployed an integrated offer, combining support for both the public and private sectors, while mobilizing expertise adapted to the relevant needs – in partner countries as well as in France’s Overseas Territories.
