Evaluation of “Sport & Development” and “Impact 2024 International” programs

The French Development Agency (AFD) has made sport a driver of inclusive investment by adopting a "Sport and Development" strategy in February 2019.
These encouraging results present an opportunity for capitalisation, allowing AFD to draw lessons to improve its practices in the field of sport for development.
This evaluation lays the foundation for a renewed AFD commitment to "Sport for Development."


It highlights AFD’s leading role as an engaged partner and funder of programs rooted in local realities and contributing to youth empowerment through a development-through-sport approach.


This innovative approach has proven effective in strengthening social ties and contributing to various development goals. These two programs have supported the emergence of social innovation initiatives through sport, benefiting local communities and youth.
