Preserving Mangroves: a Natural Rampart against the ravages of Climate Change

Mangroves are essential for storing carbon, protecting coastlines, and providing food and jobs for millions of coastal communities. But they are imperiled by the ravages of climate change and rapid urbanization. That’s why AFD has been supporting projects to protect mangroves and to include them in global climate-change strategies. We examine some of AFD’s flagship mangrove initiatives.
