Sandra Kassab appointed Director of the Africa Department at the Agence française de développement (AFD)

At the head of the Africa Department, Sandra Kassab is now in charge of AFD's activities and regional strategy on the African continent, which accounts for 43% of AFD's global volume, with projects currently underway in 44 countries.
For almost twenty years at AFD, Sandra Kassab has been involved in the structuring of numerous development and financing projects in several geographies and sectors, notably in infrastructure and energy, the financial sector and social sectors.
Sandra Kassab previously held the position of Deputy Director of the Orient Department since August 2022, already within AFD's Geographies Executive Directorate, after having worked abroad for eight years. From 2014 to 2018, she held the position of Senior Project Manager at the Cairo agency in Egypt, where she was in charge of the Energy and Health & Social Protection sectors.
Before joining AFD in 2006, Sandra Kassab worked for a number of international development organizations, including the World Bank in Port-au-Prince (Haiti) in 2005, where she developed the strategy for World Bank operations in Haiti and for the African Development Bank in Tunisia.
She has published several articles and taken part in various seminars on the theme of sustainable development.
Trained as a lawyer, she holds a Master's degree in International Law from the University of Paris I, La Sorbonne (2004).
